We’ll do all we can to keep up with who’s joining and leaving Senior Posts in Students’ Unions

Jaki Booth joined Sheffield Students’ Union on June 2nd. Jaki joins following four-and-a-half years at Southampton University Students’ Union. Before that she spent seven years at Birmingham City Students’ Union as general manager.

Ally Buckle, Sheffield Students’ Union president, said: “Jaki’s proven record as an excellent students’ union chief executive and her aspirations for the future of our Students’ Union made her the outstanding candidate for this role. “She is going to be a brilliant staff leader, and I cannot wait to welcome her in June.”

Scott McCarthy has joined Southampton Students’ Union as Chief Executive, and takes up the post in August. Before coming to SUSU, Scott was the Chief Executive of British Judo for 10 years, leading them to win two medals in London 2012. Prior to this, he was Chief Executive of the Irish Basketball Association and spent ten years as a Foreign Service Officer for the United States Department of State.

Scott Cannie will shortly leave UCA Students’ Union for Abu Dhabi, UAE. “It will be strange not working within SU’s but I will be remaining in Higher Education whilst in the UAE. My role will be within Student Affairs/Campus Life so whilst culturally different will have similarities to some of the experiences at 3 institutions in the UK”
